Tips and ready-made wording

What to write on a baby shower invitation

The invitation needs to answer the questions guests would ask in the group chat: whose shower it is, when, where and what to bring.

  • The baby's name (or "Ana and Pedro's baby", if the name is still a secret).
  • The date, start time and, if possible, end time.
  • The venue with its full address; send the map link right after the image on WhatsApp.
  • What to bring: diapers (with the size), a gift of their choice or a registry.
  • An RSVP deadline, if food is counted per person.

Gender reveal: how to keep the suspense

On the invitation, give only the date, time and place; the reveal is for the day itself. If the family is going to vote "boy or girl", write in the note that each guest should wear pink or blue, or bring their guess written down.

Diaper shower and blessing shower

For a diaper shower, give the sizes and a suggested quantity per guest (for example, "one pack of M or L"). That way the gifts are not all newborn size, which the baby wears for only a few weeks. A blessing shower is more intimate: instead of a gift, each guest brings a message or prayer for the family.

Baptism, confirmation and godparents

A baptism invitation usually includes the child's name, the church, the time of the ceremony and, if there is one, the reception venue. To invite the godparents before everyone else, use the godparents template with a personal note; many people hand it over printed, together with a small gift.

First birthday and month birthdays

For a first birthday, the age stands out and the note says whether the party is family only or will have children. For month birthdays, a simple card with the number of months is a nice way to mark the month's photo and send it to grandparents, aunts and uncles.

When to send it

Baby shower and gender reveal: 3 to 4 weeks ahead, with a reminder the day before. Baptism: 3 to 4 weeks ahead, because godparents and relatives from out of town usually need to plan their trip.
