Tips and ready-made wording
What to put on a sweet 15 invitation
A sweet 15 party has guests of all ages, from classmates to grandparents. The invitation has to work for everyone.
- The birthday girl's name, front and center.
- The date, start time and, if there is one, the time of the waltz or ceremony.
- The venue with its full address and a map link right after the image.
- The dress code (smart casual, formal, themed).
- An RSVP deadline, if the catering is counted per guest.
Debutante ball, themed party or a trip
For a classic ball, use an elegant template and mention the dress code. For a themed party (Y2K, K-pop, neon), the invitation can already announce the theme and dress code. If the party is swapped for a trip, the invitation can call the family to a smaller celebration before departure.
18th birthday
At 18, the party is usually with friends. The invitation can be shorter and more relaxed: date, time, place and whether to bring anything.
Slumber party and pop star party
For a slumber or pop star party, say the pickup time and what to bring (pillow, pajamas, costume). Parents appreciate it when the invitation already says so.
When to send it
Sweet 15 party: 4 to 6 weeks ahead, because godparents and relatives from out of town need to plan. Teen party with friends: 2 to 3 weeks.
Ready-made wording to copy
- “My sweet 15 is coming and I want you there on this special night!”
- “A night to dance, smile and remember forever. Come celebrate my sweet 15!”
- “18! Come celebrate this new chapter with me.”
- “Slumber party: bring your pillow, pajamas and lots of energy to chat until late!”
